Capshaw Elementary School
 We the faculty, parents, and students of Capshaw will work together in a safe and nurturing environment to ensure the development of a quality education and responsible citizenship. We believe in the school as a community connected by shared goals and sense of purpose. We believe that learning is a lifelong process and that all students learn in different ways as well as that instruction should be presented to support the learning styles of the students. We also believe that parents and teachers share the responsibility to help children reach their potential of becoming informed citizens.
School Policies
Supervision of students is provided from 7:15 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Unless students are enrolled in School Age Child Care (S.A.C.), they should arrive no earlier than 7:15 and leave no later than 3:30. All visitors who wish to proceed beyond the foyer must sign in at the office and receive a badge to wear while in the building. Parents who choose to walk in with their child should be sure to leave the academic halls by 7:55.
Unless students are enrolled in School Age Child Care (S.A.C.), they should not arrive at school before 7:15 a.m. A teacher will supervise all early arrivals in the gym between 7:15 and 7:45. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria beginning at 7:30a.m. Homerooms are open for students at 7:45. All students should be in the classroom and prepared to begin by 8:00 a.m Walkers and riders are dismissed at approximately 2:55 p.m. Teachers are on duty to supervise car riders at the back of the building until 3:30 p.m.Students must be picked up by3:30 unless they are in after school care.
Also, before and after school care is provided for a fee for our students. If you are interested in enrolling your child, please contact the Site Director, Mr. Trevor Sheets. Before and after school hours the S.A.C. program can be reached at 526-4273.
Textbooks and Materials
All basic textbooks are loaned to students for their use during the school year. Textbooks are to be kept clean and handled carefully and are not to be written in. Please be sure your child’s name is on the label provided on the inside cover of their books. Parents will be required to pay for lost or damaged books. Although all textbooks are furnished, there are other items which students need that are not funded by the county or state. An instructional fee of $10 is requested of each student. During the year parents may be requested to pay for other supplemental materials.
School Office and Store
The school office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or other hours by special appointment. The principal or the secretary will help you with any questions you may have concerning Capshaw School. School supplies may be purchased at the school store from 7:45 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. Prices are comparable to retail prices. Any profit from the store goes for miscellaneous expenses.
